Well, I have been for about 12 hours. I didn't manage to jag a business class seat flying back from Hel to Sin but it wasn't too bad. The flight was full - who were all these people? I got some sleep and didn't feel like dozing off when I got to Singapore.
I had requested an aisle seat on the QANTAS flight between Sin and Per but was given one of the middle seats in a row of 4. Fortunately, the chap on the aisle was very tall and had to stand up at regular intervals, giving me an opportunity to nip to the loo without having to climb over him.
Getting out of the airport wasn't too painful, though I was diverted through Biosecurity as I ticked yes to being in a wilderness area. Not much of a biohazard I know but I did want to tell the truth and I had been with reindeer. They didn't seem too fussed and checked that my shoes were clean and let me through.
Taxi home, desultory unpacking of stuff, had a shower and a cup of tea and went to bed about 2am. I woke up a couple of times - the first time, I thought I was in a railway station left luggage room. I have no idea why. It took a long time to work out just where I was.
I eventually got up at 8.30 with a view to having a cup of coffee and then going out to pick the cats up. Car wouldn't start, battery completely dead. The RAC man said that it would need to be on a charger overnight, something I don't have. He reckoned the run out to Oakford to the cattery should be ok but to leave the car running. Good in theory - as I headed down Canning Hwy, the petrol warning light came on and I couldn't stop the car to fill it up.
So, I headed back home, put a load of washing on and tried the car again. It started so I got some fuel, did a bit of shopping and came home again. The cattery is only open between 9 and 11 and 3.30 and 5.30, so I'll try again in a couple of hours. Hopefully Manfred won't have lost whatever charge he's managed to build up in that time.
